All things Dev #11
In this edition Agents of Smoll among other cool stuff
Welcome to another edition of your favorite newsletter! 🎉 This week, I’m sharing some exciting new finds that caught my eye and gave my productivity a serious boost. Let’s get into #11.
Smol Agents: The Tiny but Mighty Framework You Didn’t Know You Needed!
Have you ever felt like building AI agents is like trying to assemble furniture from Golra Mor? Hugging Face has dropped Smol Agents—a minimalist framework that’s small in code but BIG in possibilities.
Here’s the TL;DR:
• No Bloat: Just ~1,000 lines of code. Enough for your agents to make decisions without dragging you into a black hole of abstractions.
• Big Brain Power: Use Hugging Face models, OpenAI’s GPT, or even Anthropic. Your smol agent just got hella smart.
• Tools on Tap: Define simple Python functions, wrap them in @tool, and watch your agent become the nerdiest little helper ever.
from smoltools import tool
@tool
def say_hi(name: str) -> str:
return f"Hello, {name}!"
agent = Agent(tools=[say_hi])
print(agent("Say hi to world"))Head over to Smol Agents Docs and check them out
